2023 NFL honors predictions

Writer's picture: Marc LalondeMarc Lalonde

Cole has some spicy hot takes in this one. All 12 minutes are worth a look!

Here are my picks:

MVP: Patrick Mahomes, QB Kansas City Chiefs

OPOY: Justin Jefferson, WR Minnesota Vikings. He had a singular impact on the season even if the griddy is washed now.

DPOY: Nick Bosa, DE, San Francisco 49ers, but it should be Hassan Reddick. 19.5 sacks and 6 forced fumbles means a lot of impact plays for the Eagles’ star, but Bosa will win because of name recognition. Micah Parsons is also always in the conversation.

DROY: Sauce Gardner, CB, New York Jets. Tariq Woolen should get more love but Gardner was the guy.

OROY: Should be Kenneth Walker 3 in Seattle but Garrett Wilson in the league’s media capital will win. 1,000 receiving yards with Mike White, Zach Wilson and Joe Flacco throwing to you? It’s quite something.

Coach of the year: They should retire this award and give it to Kyle Shanahan now and forever. He took Brock Purdy to the NFC title game. He has playmakers he can scheme open all over the field. But it’s worth considering both SB finalists, Andy Reid and Nick Sirianni as well. None of those guys will win.

Instead, Brian Daboll will win for putting together a Saquon-Barkley-and-the seven-dwarves offense for the New York Giants and taking them to the NFC divisional round.

Comeback player of the Year Geno Smith, QB, Seattle Seahawks and no one else ever. Shout out to Damar Hamlin, who an NFLPA doctor said this week ‘could definitely’ play again. Check out what Cole has to say on Saquon Barkley's behalf.
